A small rock-cut Jain cave temple, the Arivar Koil, whose fresco-secco paintings are among the most important early paintings surviving in India outside Ajanta. The lotus-pond ceiling is the famous one. The site is tiny and the visit is short, but for anyone who cares about painting it is the reason to go to Pudukkottai.
