What we collect

If you only read this website, we collect nothing about you beyond what any web server necessarily sees while sending you a page. There is no account to create and nothing to log in to.

If you send us something — a place, a message, a correction — we receive what you typed, and the service also records the IP address the request came from and your browser’s user-agent string. Those two exist to stop abuse of the form and for nothing else.

The forms also carry a spam check, and it collects nothing at all. Your browser is given a small puzzle to work out before it sends the form — a fraction of a second for you, and expensive for a machine sending thousands. It runs on our own server, sets no cookie, does not identify you and sends nothing to anybody else. If your browser cannot do it, the form still works; a person reads every submission either way.

What we do not do

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No selling, renting or sharing of anything you send us.
• No third-party analytics or tag manager on this website.
• No family or personal directory records published on the open web, in any form.

Search engines and AI assistants

We allow both, including the AI crawlers, and that is a decision rather than a default. This site exists so that Jain community information can be found, and people increasingly ask an assistant rather than a search box. A family asking where the nearest sthanak is should get our answer — researched, sourced, and honest about what we do not know — rather than a guess from somewhere else.

What makes that comfortable is what is not here. There are no family or personal directory records anywhere on this website, by a standing rule that predates the decision. A crawler reads exactly what a visitor reads: institutions, public places, festival dates and scholarship information. Any published contact can be removed on request, and removal requests are handled first.

How long anything is kept

A submission stays in the moderation queue until a person decides on it, and the decision is recorded so that it is not reconsidered by accident. Rejected records are marked rather than deleted, so a decision can be revisited. Your name and email, if you gave them, are used to write back to you and are removed before anything is published.

Where it is held

The website is served from Amazon Web Services in the Mumbai region and through their content delivery network. Submissions are held on a single server in the same region, in a file readable only by its administrator. Email is on Google Workspace.

Removing a contact number

This site publishes contact numbers for temples, tirths, trusts and the people who run them, including personal mobiles where that is the number a trust is actually reached on. Every one of those blocks carries a link to ask for a number to be removed.

If a number is yours and you would rather it was not here, we remove it. We do not ask why, we do not ask you to prove it is yours, and we do not wait for a review cycle — removals are handled ahead of everything else in the queue. You do not have to give your name or an email address, though an email lets us confirm it is done.

The family and community directory is a separate matter and is not on this website at all. It lives inside the app, behind a login, and no family or personal record from it is ever published on the open web.
