The hostels operate on Shwetambar Jain dietary and ritual rules, which in practice makes them Shwetambar in character even where no formal restriction is written.
Conditions of residence
Two conditions are compulsory and you should know them before applying: meals follow Shwetambar Jain rules with meals before sunset compulsory, and daily Jin Pooja at the on-site Jinalaya is compulsory.
How to apply
Read the prospectus, sign up on the portal, then follow the separate flow for new, renewal or casual admission. Standard operating procedure manuals and a Trust Recommendation Form are published, and vacant trust seats are listed.
The site mixes cycles — a renewal link still said 2025-26 while the trust-seats document was 2026-27. Go by the portal, not by a year printed on a page.

Running since 1949, and the best-documented Jain hostel we found anywhere. Rooms from two to twelve seaters plus non-AC and AC partitioned dormitories. Pure vegetarian, Paryushan chauviar meals, and Sanmati Teerth on campus.

Jain students. No sect restriction is stated.
Fees
₹1,60,000 a year for all non-AC rooms and ₹1,90,000 a year for the AC partitioned dormitory, plus a ₹10,000 refundable deposit. All-inclusive of three meals a day, WiFi, gym and laundry.
Online application was open for 2026-27 when we checked. This is the only entry on this page whose fees are published — everywhere else you will have to telephone.
Founded 1933. Boys' and girls' hostels with a published capacity of 378 boys' beds and 397 girls' beds across four buildings. Pure Jain food, library, solar power and CCTV.

Explicitly restricted to the Jain Oswal community. Being Jain is not enough — this is a sub-community restriction.
How to apply
Collect the form from the hostel office, submit marksheets, Aadhaar, a community certificate and — for the subsidised scheme — an income certificate. A committee draws a merit list, then issues a confirmation letter, then fees are paid.
The Anand Nivas Yojana gives subsidised accommodation to economically weaker deserving students. Fees are not published — telephone the office.

A boys' hostel established in 1912 with an intake of 120, and a girls' hostel established in 1945 with an intake of 80 for ages 10 to 17. For school-going students, with preference to students from villages that lack educational facilities.

Jain-founded, but today it admits both Jain and non-Jain students. Do not describe this as Jain-only — and do not assume being Jain gives you preference.

Admissions run every April, advertised in rural Gujarati newspapers, with an entrance test.
A charitable gurukul and hostel: triple-sharing rooms with attached washrooms, a 24-hour library, pure Jain food with chauvihar timings, achet (boiled) water, laundry and sports. For Jain students from school through under-graduate, post-graduate and professional courses.

A strict code of conduct: non-Jain food is prohibited, gates close at 21:30, and mobile phone use is limited.

A 25-room hostel with library and mess, opened in 2017 in central Jaipur. Unusually, it is open to Jain students who come to Jaipur either to study or to work.

Built in 1995 for 67 students in post-graduate and professional courses — medical, engineering and chartered accountancy. Mess, library and reading room, solar power, and a multipurpose hall with yoga and ahimsa classes. Known for strict discipline.

Two girls' hostels described on the same site — at Revati Range in Indore and Ghatkopar East in Mumbai — were still listed as under construction with 2023 and 2024 target dates. Do not plan around either until the trust confirms they have opened.

A boys' hostel more than a century old, with need-based scholarships for hostel-selected students and alumni, career counselling, soft skills and start-up mentorship.
Who can apply
No Jain restriction is stated anywhere on the site — it describes itself as serving economically disadvantaged students and wards of defence personnel from outside the metros. We list it here because it is often described as a Jain hostel; we could not confirm that it is one.
Applications run year-round subject to seats, candidates are informed by email only, fees fall due within ten days of confirmation, and a rejected applicant may not reapply for twelve months. The homepage still said 2024-25 when we checked.
A Jain boys' hostel run by the JITO Ahmedabad Education Trust at Swastik Society, with published pages for accommodation, food, library and recreation, and its own hostel rules. Applications go through a login on the hostel's site.

A Jain boys' hostel — it describes itself that way and states no sect restriction. JITO is a pan-Jain body.
New to this page. In our 2026-08-14 research this hostel's site published nothing usable — no address, no fees, no admission route. It is now a working site with an office line, an email and stated hours, so we can list it. Fees are still not published; telephone. Note that the admission-procedure page is linked from the navigation but returns a 404 today, so ask for the procedure when you call rather than looking for it.
KDO Education — Kutchi Dasha Oswal boys' and girls' hostels
Mumbai
The boys' hostel has been running since 1903 and is the only entry on this page that is outright free: lodging, boarding, clothing, books and fees at no cost to Kutchi Dasha Oswal students from Std 5 through college. There is a girls' hostel at Ghatkopar East with 40 to 50 seats.
Who can apply
Kutchi Dasha Oswal Jain only. A sub-community restriction — if you are not KDO, this is not open to you regardless of sect, and the free places least of all.
Fees
Free for KDO students at the boys' hostel — lodging, boarding, clothing, books and fees. The girls' hostel's terms are not published; ask the office.
A student hostel run by the Sadhumargi Jain Sangh. Its admission form is published as a PDF on the sangh's forms page — which is the whole of what is published about it.
Who can apply
Sadhumargi, and sangh membership is part of it. Being Sthanakvasi is not enough on its own for the sangh's other schemes and there is no reason to expect the hostel to be different — but the form is where that will be stated, so read it.
We are listing this because the sangh publishes a real admission form for it and the sangh is unambiguously active — and we are marking it unverified because the city, the capacity, the fees and the conditions of residence are published nowhere. Download the form, then telephone the sangh office before you go any further.
A Jain student boarding running since 1941, and one of very few Digambar hostels anywhere in this listing. We can tell you it exists and almost nothing else.

Its website answers, and the page is about 1.8 KB — a heading and nothing under it. No contact, no fees, no admission route, in the phase-08 research or on re-checking. The address and telephone number circulating on directory sites are not confirmed from the boarding's own pages, so we are not repeating them. It is here because a Digambar family in Pune deserves to know the place exists; enquire locally.

Jain Sangh Awas — Jain Sangh Pune

Low-cost shared accommodation for Jain boys at Dreams Veeroday, Kharadi — two-bedroom flats with four to a flat, launched in January 2015 by the Jain Sangh Pune trust.
Who can apply
Jain boys. The trust's stated mission is to support all Jains in Pune, and no sect restriction is published for the accommodation.
The trust itself is live and busy — its site is current, and its published work runs to financial help for families and around 900 direction sign-boards to derasars across Pune. The accommodation page is a different matter: it was last modified in 2023 and carries no rates and no application route, so we cannot tell you whether it is still running. Treat this as an enquiry to make, not a place to plan on.
Bengaluru is the largest gap on this page and it has not closed: the Karnataka Jain Association is reported to run a boys' hostel at Shankarpuram and a girls' hostel in Banashankari, and its website has not answered on a single attempt, in August 2026 or before. Beyond the SMJV branches we could still verify nothing in Surat, Vadodara, Jodhpur or Udaipur. And Digambar coverage remains the thin half — the Jaipur Sanskrit Shiksha Samiti hostel is the only Digambar entry here with usable published detail, which is why the Pune boarding is listed as unverified rather than left out. Rather than repeat directory listings we cannot stand behind, we have left these out. If you run one of these hostels, we would like to list you.
