Jain community scholarships

Trusts and institutions that help Jain students, each with its sect or sub-community restriction in plain words.

One sub-community only

Why we state the restriction on every entry

Several of the best-funded Jain trusts are restricted to a sub-community — Kutchi Visa Oswal, Kutchi Dasha Oswal, Jain Oswal, Sadhumargi — not merely to a sect. A family outside it is turned away at the door, often after filling in a form and travelling to an office. Equally, several organisations with “Jain” in the name are open to everyone, and we say that too. No sect is ranked or favoured anywhere on this site.

4 One sub-community only5 Open to everyone

An honest note on coverage

What we could verify skews Shwetambar and Terapanth. Verified Digambar entries are thin — a hostel in Jaipur, and a Pune boarding whose website we could not read. That is a gap in our research, not a statement about the community, and closing it will take Hindi-language searching and direct enquiry. If you run or know a Digambar education trust, we would like to list it.

Pan-sect and community-neutral options

Worth surfacing for fairness: JITO and its training foundation, Jain Social Group EduCon, Jains India Trust, Firodia Hostel and Sheth C. N. Vidyavihar are either open to all sects or open to everyone regardless of community.

Only one organisation in this entire section publishes its fees. Everywhere else, a phone call is the only way to find out — so plan for that rather than expecting a website to tell you.

JITO Administrative Training Foundation runs four programmes and they are listed here separately, because a student sitting the judiciary examination does not search for the name of the foundation. All four select by a Common Entrance Test.

JITO Administrative Training Foundation (JATF)

PACE — Public Administration and Civil Services Enhancement

Residential coaching and mentoring for the UPSC civil services examination — the flagship JATF programme, and coaching rather than a cash scholarship. If you clear the entrance test you get a room, a course and a mentor; you do not get a cheque.

Who can apply

JITO is a pan-Jain body covering all sects, but JATF's published pages do not state a formal Jain-only rule anywhere. Confirm community eligibility with JATF before you plan around it either way.

What we could not get, and you will have to ask for: the eligibility rules, the fees or whether there are any, and the CET dates. None of it is published on jatf.in — the registration flow is behind a login, and the homepage buttons that would take you into it do not currently lead anywhere. Telephone 8655998688 or write to info@jatf.in for the current cycle. We would rather tell you to make one call than print a figure we could not read on their own page.

What it pays

Residential, at six centres: Delhi (two campuses, 128 rooms for 254 students and 45 rooms for 100), Indore, Kota, Pune, Jaipur and Bengaluru. The foundation's own published record across all its programmes is 349 aspirants into the central civil services and 368 into the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra state services.

How to apply

Selection is by a Common Entrance Test. Registration runs in separate tracks — the CET for the civil services programme, and its own registration for the judiciary and for IIT-JEE — so make sure you are entering the right one.

JITO Administrative Training Foundation (JATF)

JATF IIT

Coaching and mentoring for JEE Main and Advanced, aimed at selection into the IITs and NITs. Kota is one of the six centres, which tells you what kind of programme this is.

The foundation's own published record across all its programmes is 349 aspirants into the central civil services and 368 into the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra state services.

How to apply

A separate "Register for IIT/JEE" track, not the civil services CET. Selection is by entrance test.

JITO Administrative Training Foundation (JATF)

Judiciary Services

Coaching and mentoring for the civil judge and magistrate examinations — the least visible of the four programmes and the one worth knowing about, because very few community bodies anywhere support judicial-services preparation at all.

Delhi runs two centres for civil and judiciary services together, so the judiciary track shares the residential facilities of the civil services programme.

How to apply

A separate "Register for Judiciary" track, distinct from the civil services CET.

Esvadhyay

An e-learning platform for UPSC civil services preparation, and the only one of the four JATF programmes that does not ask you to move to another city. For a student who cannot leave home — a family business to help with, a parent to care for — that difference is the whole programme.

JITO Education Loan Programme (JELP)

Not a loan — an interest subsidy on interest you have already paid on an education loan taken from a bank or a recognised NBFC.

Who can apply

Any Jain. The student must belong to the Jain community and be a follower of the faith. No sect restriction found.

Two separate deadlines, and missing the first one means no subsidy at all: you must REGISTER under JELP within three months of your loan being sanctioned, and then CLAIM every financial year in a window that runs from April. Get the exact dates and the subsidy rate from JATF — their application site is a JavaScript app that we could not read, so we are not printing percentages we could not confirm on the page itself.

Shri Mahavira Jaina Vidyalaya (SMJV)

Financial Aid — interest-free loan scholarships

Interest-free loan scholarships under three named schemes: Higher Financial Aid, Foreign Financial Aid for study abroad, and a Loan Scholarship for girls pursuing Chartered Accountancy. Founded 1915.

Who can apply

The financial aid page states the eligibility plainly: "Jain by birth". A Sangh Certificate is a required first-stage document. The scholarship itself is not stated to be sect-restricted — but note that SMJV's hostels run on Shwetambar Jain dietary and ritual rules.

The application portal runs on a bare IP address over plain HTTP, not HTTPS. That is the trust's own portal and it is the real one, but treat it as you would any unencrypted page — and note that jainwaves.com will never ask you for those credentials.

What it pays

The trust's published record is 2,300+ students supported and more than ₹35 crore disbursed. It also states that demand runs at roughly ten times what it can disburse.

How to apply

Online application, then first-stage documents (Guarantors Form, Power of Attorney and a Sangh Certificate), then second-stage documents (Advance Receipt, Affidavit Form-D, Promissory Note, Financial Support Agreement), then physical submission. Separate document lists for study in India and abroad.

Terapanth Professional Forum (TPF)

Acharya Mahapragya Shiksha Sahyog Yojna · Udaan · Medhavi Samman

Education finance support (Shiksha Sahyog), scholarships (Udaan), merit felicitation (Medhavi Samman), and Paramarsh — free second-opinion advice from doctors, chartered accountants and lawyers in the forum.

Who can apply

Terapanth. The forum is constituted of professionals of the Terapanth Samaj, and Medhavi Samman is explicitly for Terapanthi students. If you are not Terapanth, this is not your route.

The forum's own claim is 7,800+ Shiksha Sahyog grants and 10,000+ students helped. Its eligibility text sits in JavaScript tabs we could not read, so we are linking the page rather than paraphrasing criteria we could not see. No deadline is published — it appears to be rolling.

Shree Akhil Bharatvarshiya Sadhumargi Jain Sangh

Pujya Acharya Shri Shrilal Uchcha Shiksha Yojna

Interest-free education loan of up to ₹10 lakh for under-graduate and post-graduate study in India or abroad. Covers course fees, hostel and boarding, library and laboratory, examination fees, and — with committee approval — personal coaching fees.

Who can apply

A hard restriction, and the narrowest kind. The applicant must be a member of Shri ABS Jain Sangh, with at least one parent a member of the Sadhumargi Jain Sangh. Being Sthanakvasi is not enough on its own — Sangh membership is required.

The scheme is live and the sangh's website is back: sadhumargi.com now carries the scheme's own page, the application form as a PDF, and a notice of an MOU signed with SBI for it. The page describes interest-free support released after admission is secured, run by a standing management committee. What it does NOT restate are the numbers — the ₹10 lakh ceiling, the 60% across Class X and XII, and the age band of 15 to 30 all come from the printed 2016 form. Telephone before you plan around any of those three.

Eligibility

  • Average of 60% across Class X and Class XII; age 15 to 30; abstinence from the seven vices

What it pays

Paid directly to the institution, never in cash. Repaid quarterly over a maximum of five years after the course, with a moratorium of the course duration plus two years, or the course duration plus six months after employment, whichever comes first.

Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (JVBI), Ladnun

A deemed university that offers merit-cum-need scholarships and fee exemption to its own enrolled students, and helps SC, ST and OBC students access state welfare scholarships.

Who can apply

Not sect-restricted as written. The institute is a Terapanth foundation, but the scholarship terms do not state a community restriction.

The only official document we could find is the 2020-21 prospectus, which is five years old. We are quoting no amounts. Confirm current terms at admission.

Shri Bharatvarshiya Digambar Jain Mahasabha

The oldest lay-Jain organisation in India, founded 1894 at Mathura. A "Shrut Samvardhini" scholarship is attributed to it.

Who can apply

Digambar, by the nature of the body.

The organisation is unambiguously active — its site carries November 2025 election notices. The scholarship, however, appears only on third-party aggregator sites; we could not reach any scholarship page on the Mahasabha's own site. We are therefore publishing no terms, amounts or deadlines. Contact the Mahasabha directly.

The Jain Education Society

Hostel accommodation and an interest-free freeship loan — half or full freeship, repayable on an undertaking. Founded 1943.

Who can apply

Open to Jain students who have passed SSC or HSC. Founded in 1943 by Sthanakvasi Jains and historically serving students from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, but no sect restriction is stated for the freeship itself.

One timing rule matters more than anything else here: existing students must reapply every year by 31 May. There is no automatic renewal. Payments are by cheque or NEFT only — never cash.

Shree Kutchhi Visha Oswal Sthanakwasi Jain Mahajan

Education loan and scholarship, plus guidance on Jain-minority college admissions. The Mahajan has run schools since 1917.

Who can apply

Kutchhi Visha Oswal Sthanakwasi only. This is a sub-community restriction, not merely a sect one — being Sthanakvasi is not enough.

Use the homepage, not the scholarship page — that page was showing 2019 deadlines and third-party schemes when we checked.

Who can apply

School fees to Class XII, an interest-free loan after Class XII with a three-year moratorium, help with gurukul and boarding admission, negotiated fee discounts at Jain-managed colleges, and guidance on minority-quota admissions.

Who can apply

Jain "sadharmik" families, with a focus on rural India. The trust comes from a Shwetambar Murtipujak lineage, but no sect restriction is stated for the assistance itself.

Jain Social Group EduCon

Part-funding of college fees, hostel, coaching, entrance fees and books, plus mentoring and student networking. Launched in 2012 by JSG Pimpri Chinchwad and registered as a public charitable trust in 2015.

Who can apply

Explicitly open to everyone. Their published eligibility says applications "from all community, caste and creed are considered" — this is not a Jain-only scheme despite the name, and no sect is preferred.

Eligibility

  • Class 8 through post-graduate; minimum 80% in SSC or HSC, above 70% in other examinations
  • Preference to students in very weak financial conditions, and to orphans, single-parent, differently-abled and blind students

How to apply

Referral-based, not self-apply. Someone who knows the student recommends them through the form on the EduCon site. Rolling, with no published deadline. Donors receive cards with student details, and donor-to-student contact is encouraged.

Jains India Trust

Need-based scholarship covering tuition, admission, books and uniform. The trust's own published record is ₹14.42 crore to 11,700 students up to October 2023.

Who can apply

All sects accepted. The form asks the applicant to state their sect — Sthanakvasi, Mandirmargi, Terapanthi, Digambar or other — but records it rather than restricting on it.

Phone before relying on the website. The only form published is for AY 2024-25 with a last date of 31 October 2024, and the footer reads "last updated 26/02/2024". No 2025-26 or 2026-27 form is up.

Eligibility

  • The student must sit an examination conducted by the trust and score 60% or more; the scholarship stops if the student later falls below 60% aggregate
  • The family declares it does not consume pan masala, gutka, cigarettes, liquor, or non-vegetarian food including eggs

Shri Kushal Guru Jain Charitable Trust

A scholarship supporting education for underprivileged students, alongside medical support. Founded 2001.

Who can apply

Despite "Jain" in the name, the trust's own About page says it works irrespective of caste, creed or religion. Do not assume this is Jain-restricted — and equally, do not assume Jain identity gives you preference.

The organisation is active, but the specific scholarship terms circulating elsewhere come from aggregator sites and the trust's own detail page did not load. Ask the trust directly.

What we deliberately did not list

If you have seen one of these names elsewhere, we looked at it and decided against it. Knowing that is more useful than wondering whether we missed it.

JAINA Academic Scholarship
North America only. It requires US or Canadian citizenship or permanent residency and membership of a North American Jain Center, and its last published deadline was 2023. Indian students cannot apply — this one causes real confusion, which is why we name it.
Sahu Jain Trust
We could not read a single word from the trust's own website, and two contradictory addresses circulate — one of which is actually the address of Bharatiya Jnanpith, a different institution. We are not publishing a phone number or address we cannot stand behind.
Nirmal Scholarship · Sadhumargi Class 1–12 scholarship amounts
The amounts widely quoted for both come only from aggregator sites, never from the organisations themselves. Publishing a figure a family might plan around, sourced from a site that copied it from another site, is not something we will do.
Sheth Anandji Kalyanji Pedhi
A major and much-loved institution, but it manages tirths and temples rather than education, and no education programme was found — so it does not belong on a scholarships page. It has a full entry in the organisations directory instead, with its four offices and the nine tirths it administers.
Shri All India Swetamber Sthanakwasi Jain Conference · JSGIF
Both are large, active and genuinely important community bodies — and neither runs a student scheme. The Conference's own "Yojana Heads" page renders zero entries, and JSGIF confirms it has no education programme at federation level; its education arm is JSG EduCon, which is listed above. Both have entries in the organisations directory, which is where a body that does real work but does not fund students belongs.

Always confirm details directly with the organisation before applying or paying anything. jainwaves.com is not affiliated with any of these trusts, and we never handle applications or money.
