What exists today
Of the four, one is live on this website: the office-bearers and institutions layer, which is public information about public bodies. The family directory, the area groups and the business network are app features and are not built yet. Nothing on these pages describes a working feature unless it says so.
Why the family directory is not on this website
It is personal data about families — names, addresses, relationships, sometimes gotra and native place. That is exactly the kind of information a community shares readily among itself and would never post on a noticeboard at the railway station. A public website is a noticeboard at the railway station, except that it is also permanent, searchable, and copyable in a single request.
So the directory is an app feature behind a login, and it is not partially on the web either. There is no search box here that returns a family if you already know the name, and no page of counts by surname. Those look like compromises and they are not: they are the same data, released one query at a time.
What is public, and why that is different
A derasar has an address and a timing. A sangh has a president and a secretary who hold those posts publicly. A pedhi has an office and a telephone number it wants pilgrims to ring. None of that is private, and all of it is genuinely hard to find — which is why it is on the open web here, and why the institutions and office-bearers pages exist.
The line we hold is the institution against the family, not public against secret. A trust’s office number, an office-bearer’s name and role, and the mobile a pedhi is actually reached on all belong to the institution, and they go up — a pilgrim needs the number that is answered. A family’s own record does not, and it never appears on this website in any form.
