Ranakpur
Also known as: Chaumukha Temple · Ranakpur Jain temple
A fifteenth-century chaumukha temple of light-coloured marble, built on a four-faced plan so that Adinath is approached from any direction. Its fame rests on the pillared hall: a forest of columns, no two carved alike, holding up a series of domes. It is the single most photographed Jain interior in India and still does not photograph well — the scale is the point and the camera loses it.

The climb, and what to expect
Darshan hours and photography hours are separate here — non-worship visitors are generally admitted only in the middle of the day. Check before arriving, because arriving at the wrong hour means waiting.
Staying there
Dharamshala accommodation is available at Ranakpur; Sadri and Falna have more.
