An ancient kshetra in the old Hemanga Desha, with a Parshvanatha temple on the hill attributed to the Western Ganga kings of the fifth or sixth century and later patronage from the Hoysalas, Vijayanagara and the Wadiyars. Twenty-seven stone inscriptions survive on the site.
