A group of temples built into the living fort at Jaisalmer between the twelfth and fifteenth centuries, in the same yellow sandstone as the walls around them, so that the temples and the fort read as one thing. The Gyan Bhandar here holds an important collection of palm-leaf manuscripts. Lodurva, a short distance out of town, has a further Parshvanatha temple.

The climb, and what to expect
Inside a working fort, so approach is on foot through narrow lanes. Temple visiting hours for non-worshippers are restricted to the morning — this catches people out.
